Child Development Center
MISSION STATEMENT
Our mission is to educate students in spirit, mind and body for leadership in service to humanity by building upon its foundation of Humanics and academic excellence. At the Springfield College Child Development Center, we believe that children — like their grown up counterparts — respond, excel, and develop to their fullest potential when they are able to make choices that are rich and varied. Our program is based on such choices. The Springfield College Humanics Philosophy — educating the whole person in spirit, mind, and body — extends to even our youngest learners. Our goal is to help children build confidence and meet the challenges that confront them with success — and a smile.
The Springfield College Child Development Center combines the best of nature with the best of nurture. Located at 715 Wilbraham Road in a natural setting at the edge of Springfield College’s 52- acre East Campus – a center for adventure-based development encompassing a wide expanse of wooded and lakeshore terrain – the Child Development Center provides children from toddler through Pre-K a stimulating environment in which to learn, play, and grow into thoughtful, caring, productive youngsters.
Our focus at the Center is not on the product — but, rather, the process — of learning. At the Springfield College Child Development Center, our children are encouraged to question, explore, probe, and examine — in other words, take part in activities that peak the natural curiosity so integral to childhood. At the same time, we concentrate on developing their sense of competency, perception, and self esteem — all core components of a healthy young person.
