Back to Top Men's Rugby
Playing on the Men's Rugby team for Springfield College is an experience like no other. Participating on the team provides a chance to stay active, to make many life- long friendships, and to have a great time. Rugby is a combination of football and soccer with a twist, the most famous, perhaps, being a lack of pads. The team is open to anyone who is interested; experience is NOT necessary. Few players start knowing anything about the game, but you will leave with a new understanding and love for the sport.
Springfield competes in the New England Rugby Football Union (NERFU) league at the Division 3 level. The team is consistently competitive and had a solid playoff performance in 2003. The league season is in the Fall; however, the Spring is no time to rest as the team travels throughout the Northeast to various tournaments. Games are typically on Saturdays and practices are Monday--Friday, between the hours of 4-6 p.m. It is never too early or too late to join the team. ALL ARE WELCOME!

Back to Top Women's Rugby
Looking for a fun team sport that requires absolutely no prior experience? Check out Springfield College’s Women’s Rugby Football Club. The team plays in both the fall and the spring, with each season lasting approximately 10 weeks. Practices are daily, usually from 4-6 p.m. but have an extremely flexible schedule. There is a three day practice policy to play in the Saturday games (five days prior to the first competition each season). There is a traditional fall season with competition in the New England Rugby Football Union, and a non- traditional spring season, which is typically focused on tournament play. In 2003, the team won the Championship in the Ruggers Against Rape Tournament.
This is a student-run club sport. SC Women’s Rugby is a great way to meet new friends, learn a new sport, keep your competitive edge, and stay in shape.

Back to Top Racquetball Club Team
The Springfield College Racquetball Club was formed in October of 2006 and has flourished ever since. We compete in four weekend long tournaments in the Eastern Collegiate Racquetball Conference, a regionals tournament, and this year nationals (held in Kansas City, MO). How it works: Our club is extremely laid back, yet very competitive. We play together two to three nights per week, but most team members will play at other times with other people as well. The improvement in each player's ability comes from competing against people who are more skilled, and working one on one with players who have more experience. I (Dylan Kirn) frequently tell all of my players that I will make you as good as you want to be. If you want to work hard and put in the time, I'll help you out the whole way.
At competitions, there are four divisions for men (singles and doubles) and two divisions for women (singles and doubles). There are always divisions where you will find someone at your skill level.
Dues/Commitment: Dues come around during tournament time in the form of food/gas money. The food money is whatever you want to spend for yourself, and everyone chips in for gas. There is no fee just to join the club.
My policy on commitment is the people that play the most and work the hardest get priority for division selection. Racquetball is such an enjoyable and social sport, playing a lot is not a chore. There are no official practices, technically there is no coach, I just send out a group email to let people know when we will meet at the courts and those who can play will play. I understand many things come before racquetball on priority lists, so missing some evenings is not a problem at all.
Wrap-up: We are a great club which competes at a very high and respected level, yet we take a very relaxed approach. The team is a great group of people and the tournaments are an incredible experience. Don't be afraid to come by and play, all levels of skill and genders are welcome. Grad students are also able to compete.

Back to Top Martial Arts Club Team
President Joe Falanga
The Springfield College Martial Arts Club was founded in 2006 by club president and coach, Joe Falanga. Mr. Joe is a fourth degree black belt in Tang Soo Do, a traditional Korean Martial Art. Since its beginnings, the club has welcomed many new members from different styles of martial arts and experience levels.
The Springfield College Martial Arts Club provides an opportunity for students to further experience the Springfield College philosophy of educating the whole person in spirit, mind, and body, through disciplined training. If you have never considered martial arts training before, and are looking to reshape your mind as well as your body, this is the ideal place to start! New members are always welcome, no matter what your experience level or the style of martial arts you may be used to! The club meets three times per week, in both the fall and spring semesters.
In addition to everyday training, the club prides itself on representing the college at sport karate and intercollegiate tournaments. This year, the club plans to travel and compete actively. The club also hopes to host its own tournament this year at Springfield College. The Martial Arts Club at Springfield College is a great way to stay in shape and be part of a martial arts family.
Back to Top Paintball Club Team
As a program within the Springfield College community, the Springfield College Paintball Club aims to promote the sport of paintball by offering opportunities for college students to play structured competitive paintball. While in service, this club hopes to provide another opportunity for students to get involved and to meet people with similar passions.
