Springfield College Framework for Youth Development
The framework is based on research that suggests positive growth is most likely to occur when young people:
Context
- Are in an appropriate context for self-discovery (engaging in activities that are voluntary, intrinsically motivating, and are important to them)
External Assets
- Are surrounded by external assets (caring adult mentors and a positive community environment)
Internal Assets
- Learn or acquire internal assets (life skills that are important for dealing with various challenges)
Evaluation and Research
- Benefit from the findings of a comprehensive system of evaluation and research
