INTERNSHIPS 

VICTIM/WITNESS ADVOCATE INTERNSHIP PROGRAM with the Hampden County District Attorney's Office.  This is an unpaid internship providing services to victims of crime throughout the court process assisted by a Victim/Witness Advocate.  There are various options for students wishing to do an internship with the DA's Office.  Field placements within the Domestic Violence Project or other areas within any of the district courts of juvenile court.  All interns will receive in-court experience.  Student interns assist in every phase of the court system providing the victims of crime with assessment, referral, and crisis intervention services. Interns in the judicial setting have the opportunity to interface with a wide variety of individuals with diverse backgrounds, cultures and situations.  The work requires that the student be a fairly quick learner, with moderate to high energy.  Skills desired: ability to recognize and assess client needs, and display empathy. The ability to work within a system efficiently.  The ability to work well with other staff and independently.  Self motivation is essential. Knowledge of the criminal justice system is helpful, but not required.  Due to the level of sensitivity and maturity we desire, only junior and senior year students will be considered. 

MARKETING/PR INTERNSHIP Catholic Charities Central Office in Boston is seeking to fill an unpaid internship opening in our Marketing and Public Relations department for either credit or experience. Responsibilities include developing and maintaining content for internal and external websites, writing a biweekly employee newsletter that is distributed agency-wide, creating media alerts to promote programs and services, and other various administrative tasks. The ideal candidate must be currently studying for a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism or a related field. He or she should have solid written and verbal communication skills, as well as a desire to learn. Knowledge of Microsoft Office is required and the ability to use Adobe, Dreamweaver and HTML is preferred. The internship will be approximately 30 hours per week spanning from June 2nd through August 15th.

INTERNSHIP - DOLPHIN RESEARCH CENTER  Dolphin Research Center (DRC) is located in the Florida Keys. DRC is a not-for-profit corporation dedicated to promoting the health and welfare of dolphins, educating the public and investigating new forms of cooperative interaction between humans and dolphins. DRC is home to 19 Bottlenose Dolphins and one California Sea Lion. All of our animals live in a natural environment in the Gulf of Mexico.  To accommodate the increasing interest in marine mammals, DRC offers a variety of educational opportunities. One such opportunity involves participation in our Intern Program. Through hard work and dedication, volunteers gain first-hand experience learning how a marine mammal care facility operates. Interns receive a structured educational experience while volunteering and may be eligible to receive college credit in accordance with their school’s policies. PUBLIC RELATIONS AND EVENTS ASSISTANT INTERNSHIP for the Food Bank of Western Massachusetts.  Start date: Fall and winter internships available. Weekly time commitment: Minimum 10 hours. INTERNSHIP WITH HASBRO GAMES  Hasbro Games is currently seeking college students who are interested in participating in an internship program for course credit. The internship would be in our Consumer Insights department to assist with the operations of GameWorks, our internal research facility. The student intern will be asked to assist in operations for our internal consumer research facility. Examples of typical Hasbro GameWorks responsibilities include:
• Organizing and ordering participant incentives  • Reviewing video footage of research activities to extract quotes to support key insights  • Conducting preliminary analysis (tabulating, transcribing) of research activities  • Conducting secondary research to provide background for key research initiatives  • Database entry and maintenance for research respondent information.  The internship would be at our East Longmeadow, MA office (a Springfield, MA suburb).  Spring Internship •We require a commitment of at least 16 hours/week for our spring internship program.  • Early January through mid-May.  Required Skills or Experience: The ideal candidate would demonstrate the following skills:  • Strong organizational skills • Proactive work ethic • Strong verbal and written communication skills • Interest in psychology, sociology, anthropology, or market research • Proficient with Microsoft Office Programs and internet research searches.  Applying for the Internship: We have one available internship for spring 2009. SPRING INTERNSHIP PROGRAMS AT MASS MoCA  (Massachusetts Museum of Contemporary Art) is the largest center for contemporary visual and performing arts in the country.  Our year-round schedule of performing arts ranges from popular music to new theater, contemporary dance to rollicking dance parties, and from alternative cabaret to beautifully screened films.   Artists who have been exhibited at MASS MoCA include Robert Wilson, Ann Hamilton, Gregory Crewdson, Matthew Ritchie, Tim Hawkinson, Oyvind Fahlstrom.  Artists that have performed on our stages Bang on a Can All Stars, Laurie Anderson, Pam Tillis, Patti Smith, Philip Glass, Bill T. Jones, Joan Baez, Yo La Tengo and They Might Be Giants. MASS MoCA seeks full-time interns for various departments.  Spend any season in the culturally rich, naturally beautiful Berkshires, while gaining invaluable professional experience in the arts. Paid interns are given $100/wk stipend and free housing with a block of the complex.
Production Interns (January 5th – May 27th): Interns work with the Production Coordinator, House Carpenter, House Electrician, House Sound Engineer, and house crew on all aspects of technical theatre and film. This includes hands-on in all of the following areas – carpentry, lighting, sound, audio/visual, and running crew.
Performing Arts Administration (January 5th – May 31st):  Interns work directly with the Managing Director of Performing Arts in coordination of current and future season planning, general office work, and maintaining/updating department archives.  Interns will rotate between assisting in both drafting the event programs and researching upcoming artists and working with artist services to arrange logistics of visiting artists, staff, and fellow interns.
Marketing/Public Relations (January 5th – May 31st):  Interns work on all aspects of publicizing the organization including writing press releases, giving tours of the galleries, preparing press packets, advertising for all upcoming performing arts events in surrounding areas, researching new forums for publicity, and assisting with public outreach and special events.
Graphic Design (ASAP – May 31st):  Interns work directly with the Director of Design, Curator, Production crew and visiting artists designing and producing a wide range of print, web pages, and signage for MASS MoCA. Intern should demonstrate a creative talent, enthusiasm, and a commitment to a career in graphic design, as well as a working knowledge of Quark X-Press, Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and Golive, and Macintosh environment. For this internship, a portfolio review and interview are required.

CONSERVATION INTERNSHIPS with SCA (Student Conservation Association). Internships are available in all 50 states in over 50 disciplines.  SCA Internships provide a myriad of opportunities for anyone interested in conserving our natural and cultural resources.  These are 3-12 month expense paid opportunities. As an SCA intern, you can work with resource management professionals on some of the most urgent and essential issues facing the conservation field.  Environmental education, invasive species control, wild land fire, public policy, and ecological restoration, just to name a few.  

JOURNALISM INTERNSHIPS provide a stipend, housing allowance, and travel allowance. Placements are available for spring, summer and fall. The deadline for spring placement is December 1, the deadline for early decision for the summer is November 1.
Newspaper & Print track: Interns are placed at daily newspapers across the country and participate in an opening career building workshop. The internship offers real reporting assignments -- interns this summer averaged 30 clips.
Broadcast Journalism track: Broadcast Journalism internships offer hands-on internships at major media networks or news production houses. Last year we sponsored internships at CNN in Atlanta, ABC's "20/20" in Manhattan, and Fox News in Los Angeles, among others.
Production Internships offer placements in video game development in addition to feature film, documentaries, and animation. Spring placements are available in New York, Los Angeles, Washington DC, and other major media centers across the country. Past internship hosts have included Warner Brothers, Focus Features, Big Mouth Productions, and more. We consider applicants at all levels of experience -- from extensive camera work and training in Final Cut Pro to simply a general interest and desire to work in the film and media industry.
Public Policy The Charles G. Koch Summer Fellow Program offers internships in two tracks for students and recent graduates interested in public policy. All placements offer participation in the Washington, DC opening and closing workshops, a $1,500 stipend, travel reimbursement, and housing (or a housing allowance) DC based interns will attend weekly lectures, panels, and small group discussions on current policy topics. ASSOCIATE COPYWRITER INTERNSHIP This Internship will be in the Editorial Department of Hasbro Games located in East Longmeadow, MA. The Intern will assist the Editorial Department with various creative writing assignments for games and puzzles.  A commitment of at least 15 hours per week is required. The internship will run from early January through mid to late May.  Required skills: strong organizational skills, creative writing experience, proactive work ethic, strong verbal communication skills, an interest in creative writing, marketing, marketing services or sales, proficient with Microsoft Office Programs, excellent attention to detail.  Additionally, the following experience is desired: at least two years of completed college education, related college coursework, experience working in an office environment, and design experience helpful, but not required.  The application deadline is October 31st. 

TOURNAMENT OPERATIONS & COMMUNICATIONS INTERNSHIPS  American Junior Golf Association (AJGA) 
Tournament Operations Internship responsibilities: on-course rules officiating, general tournament set-up and preparation, golf course set-up and preparation, starting and scoring of players, media and public relations, monitoring equipment inventory, maintenance and replenishment, public speaking.

Location: Springfield, MA.  The McCain 2008 Internship Program is a unique opportunity to participate and play a key role in the U.S. presidential election process. Interns selected to work for this prestigious program will gain invaluable political experience not only in the practical aspects of Massachusetts Republican politics but will be a part of a close knit team that is working on a national presidential race that will change American history. Students from all across the state have long been involved in politics at the state and local level and have gained invaluable insight into the American political system. However, this exciting and fast paced internship takes this one step further by giving participants the opportunity to work in the most challenging and dynamic job environment in the country – a U.S. presidential campaign. Interns will be selected from pools of candidates from both inside and outside Massachusetts and will be involved in work that will not only help the McCain campaign run on a day to day basis but will accomplish tasks that will be absolutely vital in order to achieve victory in November. One key component of the internship will be to provide the political research and background for state and local candidates that will make the difference between victory and defeat. Another key component of the internship will be to take the lead in coordinating – and directly participating in – the Get Out The Vote (GOTV) efforts that will be of crucial importance to the McCain presidential campaign and state races. The project assignments cover fascinating areas including policy research, leadership and talent development, grassroots education, marketing, and network development. This hands-on experience gives interns the chance to explore the non-profit sector while applying the management philosophy they are learning from the Foundation, and allows them to build a network of like-minded friends and associates. Each Intern is assigned a Foundation mentor for the duration of the program. The mentor will guide the Interns through assignments, assist them in learning the management framework and applying it to their non-profit work, and encourage them to become effective entrepreneurs for social change. Spring and fall Internships are part-time and flexible, but Interns must be available at least 20 hours each week, including all day on Tuesdays. Summer Interns are also part-time, but Interns work regular schedules, 8:30am-5:30pm, Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday. Spring, summer, and fall Interns do not work on Thursdays. Spring and fall Interns are paid an hourly rate of $12.00. Summer Interns are paid an hourly rate of $13.00. Metro assistance is available only for summer Interns. Unfortunately, housing is not provided.
